Jeremy Jordan has the best problem ever. By day, the rising Broadway star is rehearsing the role of Clyde Barrow in the new musical Bonnie & Clyde. By night, he is finishing up his run as Jack Kelly in the Disney musical Newsies, which closes on October 16 at Paper Mill Playhouse. But now that critics have praised Newsies, and specifically Jordan's leading man performance, rumors are swirling that the show will land on Broadway. But how can the rising star headline both shows?
“Rumors! They’re rumors,” he said with a laugh when we asked about the potential two-show career conflict at the recent Bonnie & Clyde press event. “I don’t wanna bore you with contractual issues, but the fact is that I’m with [Bonnie & Clyde] and this is the show that has priority right now. When I’m done with this, if Newsies has yet to come, I’ll be there.”
Taking the diplomacy down just a notch, Jordan threw his personal two cents on the matter into the ring. “If you wanna wait for me,” he added ever-so-slyly, “Be my guest, Disney! You can wait!”
